THE PUMP
THE LONG AND SHORT TUBES The short piece of tubing is used to connect the kits together for double pumping. If drops of water condense in the short tube shake the water.
THE OVERFLOW FILTER THE COLLECTION KIT Many other 4 ounce bottles can be used with the pump. Use only bottles made of rigid material, such as glass or hard plastic. Do not use plastic bottle bags with the Double-Up Breast Pump. The gasket must be in place between the bottle and flange or the pump will not have enough suction. There are three adapter caps included with your Double-Up Breast Pump. One shows an imprint of one collection kit and the other two show an imprint of two collection kits. Use one for single pumping and two for double pumping.
SINGLE BREAST PUMPING
2) Place the gasket (blue rubber ring) in the screw portion of
the flange and screw the bottle on. We suggest running your finger
around the surface of the gasket to make sure it is lying flat. Then
screw the bottle on so it is snug but not so tight that the gasket
bunches up. Press the single adapter cap firmly on to the flange.
3) Insert the clear side of the overflow filter into one of
the holes in the adapter cap. Now connect the fitted end of the long
tube into the blue side of the filter. Connect the other end of the
long tube to the blue post on the side of the pump. Plug the pump in
and turn it to a setting in the single kit range.
4) Place the flange over your breast and center your nipple in
the opening. Make suction by placing your finger or thumb over the
small hole in the adapter cap. You should release suction by lifting
your finger every 2 to 3 seconds. You can adjust the control knob
within the single kit range to whatever is comfortable and effective
for you. When your milk flow slows or stops, change sides. Switching
from one breast to the other every few minutes will bring more milk.
5) You can also pump one side and nurse the baby on the other.
This way you can take advantage of the milk letting down when your baby
nurses. WARNING: If pumping is painful for you, stop pumping. Do not
use The Double-Up Breast Pump if you are unable to express milk with
it. If your nipples experience swelling or discoloration, do not
continue pumping. Contact a Lactation Consultant or healthcare
professional. DOUBLE BREAST PUMPING 1) Wash your hands and make sure that any part of the collection kits which touch your breast or your milk is clean. Do not wash the overflow filter. You do not need to wash the tubing.
2) Press a double adapter cap firmly over each flange. Connect one end of the short tube to each double adapter cap. Press the clear side of the filter firmly into the remaining hole in one of the caps and connect the fitted end of the long tube into the blue side of the filter. Now you can control the suction for both kits with the hole on the second kit. Connect the other end of the long tube to the blue post on the side of the pump. 3) Place a flange over each breast and center your nipples in the openings. Make suction by placing a finger or thumb over the open hole in one cap. You should release suction by lifting or rolling your finger every 2-3 seconds. You can adjust the control knob to whatever setting is comfortable and effective for you.
Warning: If pumping is painful for you, stop pumping. Do not use the Double-Up Pump if you are unable to express milk with it. If your nipples experience swelling or discoloration, do not continue pumping. Contact a Lactation Consultant or health-care professional. TO STORE AND USE MILK Cool each collection separately. Never pour warm milk onto cool or frozen milk. It is all right to pour two or more bottles of cooled milk together before freezing. Cooled fresh milk can be added to frozen if the amount is less than the frozen amount of milk.
Refrigerated milk will keep up to 5 days, if stored in the back and coolest part of the refrigerator; otherwise, it will keep 2-3 days. It will keep 2 weeks in the freezer compartment located inside the refrigerator door. If the refrigerator has a freezer with a separate outside door, milk will keep up to 3 to 4 months if stored in the back part of the freezer. To Thaw: Check dates and use the oldest milk first. Thaw the milk under cool, and then warm, running water. Swirl occasionally. Do not be alarmed if the milk separates or "layers" - this is normal since breastmilk is not homogenized. WHAT HAPPENS IF...?THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ENOUGH SUCTION YOU AREN'T GETTING AS MUCH MILK WITH YOUR PUMP AS YOU NEED Are you pumping often enough? You should pump at least every three hours that you are separated from your baby if you wish to supply your baby with breast milk. Giving your baby formula and solid food will cause your baby to nurse less, and you will make less milk. You can increase your milk production by pumping more, by breastfeeding more, or by breastfeeding and pumping at the same time. THERE IS MIST OR DROPS OF WATER IN THE TUBING THERE IS MILK IN THE TUBING THE PUMP IS MAKING A LOUD NOISE ContactFor spare parts such as filters, gaskets or collection kits
